Truth Victorious (or "pravda zvítězí" in Czech) is the motto on the presidential flag of the Czech Republic. It comes from Vaclav Havel's anti-totalitarian work, most specifically his book "Living in Truth," and his essay "Power to the Powerless."
Though Havel was working against the then-powerful secular pseudo-religion of Communist totalitarianism, and even though the U.S. today is, thank God, much more powerful than its enemies (operating under the pseudo-religion of Islamofascism, a perversion of true Islam), Havel's idea of the battle for truth and justice, and of recognizing and standing up against evil, is as applicable today in the current war against Islamofascism, rogue state militaristic/fascism, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the hands of thugs and dictators, as it is in the battle against Western European Appeasement, its sense of "a peaceful post-history paradise" and the general "treason of the Western Intellectuals" (to borrow a phrase from Julien Benda) in their knee-jerk instinct to "blame the West first" and to argue "that we had it coming" for being so, well, successful.
As it says in one of the ancient scriptures from the Jewish tradition, "In every generation, one rises up against us to destroy us." And: "In every generation, all human beings are obligated to look upon themselves as if they — we — not our forebears only — go forth from slavery." People, especially some Europeans today, never seem to learn and are therefore doomed to repeat the past in the present. It seems that human beings, in their wealth and their success become complacent and would rather appease, buy-off and excuse than recognize evil (even the use of the word "evil" makes their eyes roll) and defeat it.
In the past, the Barbarians attacked from outside. But today, the barbarians are savvier and their enemies, especially in lands they have long infiltrated like Europe, which were already debased from their own Western heritage through their colective 20th century attempt at suicide and their resulting disingenuous sense of post-history, multi-culturalism, post-modernism, and over fifty years of American military protection, are weaker morally, if not materially and heroically.
The forces of fear, as seen in much European appeasement to Islamofascist dictators, and in the daily pronouncements of the French and German governments ("may they rot in the hell of their own making") shows us that these "Old Europeans" have learnt little from the past. Just like during the Munich Olympics in 1972, or the refusal of overflight rights to American military jets attacking Libya in response for the Pan Am Lockerbie murders, and many other examples over the last thirty years, that some Europeans are more comfortable to appease in the hope of buying another day, month, or year of "peace" at the price of a much bloodier future, and their own further moral failure.
On the home front, the U.S. media, colored by a liberal bias, and the imperial, mutlti-cultural, forever-stuck in the Vietnam War, dream-world of the former NY Times' Executive Editor Howell Raines, ignores the fact that the "Pro-Saddam Movement" (i.e. the so-called "peace movement") has been taken over by the hardcore, unreformed Communist front organizations (A.N.S.W.E.R. is a front for the Worker's World Party, an unreformed Communist Party that supports Milosevic, North Korea, Stalin and other unsavory barbarians). The liberals and those to their left, the people who say they are in favor of human rights, of helping the poor and the weak, of protecting people against tyranny and so on, have mostly turned out to be morally vacant, too caught up in their hatred of Bush, and in their own narcissistic self-indulgence, to realize that they have compromised, and thereby destroyed, any moral standing they ever had.
